Discovering the Locals – Brian Fabbro aka Byran
A few days ago I found out about a young Montreal’s DJ who recently started producing house music (at least I would qualify it as such). I liked the two tracks from Byran and decided it’d be a good idea to post them here, on WPT. Here is what Byran had to say about his passion:
It all began in the late 90’s when my father bought me a Dj Dan Desnoyers compilation, where I discovered house music for the first time. I then started buying more compilations from DJs with the few money I had. Through high school, I had music classes where I played keyboards and bass in jazz classes and shows; musical lessons which are still useful today. In 2007, I bought my first DJ kit, a pioneer djm-400 and two cdjs-200 and started mixing in parties and at school. I got myself a residence in 2009 in a club-lounge, but competition in the restaurant world being what it is, the place closed a year later and lost my job as a DJ there. After sending many demos and not getting any response, I started producing, project I was always pushing to later.
I classify my music as prog-house, and always like to put a touch of melodic arrangements in them, even if sometimes the main rhythm is a little heavier. I get my inspiration from Axwell, Kaskade, EDX and Avicii, even though I love artists like Skrillex, Above & Beyond and Deadmau5.
I have no residency for the moment, concentrating on making an album and shows in Montreal around December.
