Montreal’s got trance talent: Malek

Trance has taken more and more space in Montreal for the past few years. It has always been big in the afterhour scene, however it’s a newborn when it comes to club hours. Malek, a Montreal-based DJ whom I first heard at Circus, will now be taking it a step further, having signed a residency contract with THEATRO, previously known as KARMA club. May 27th marks his first residency night at THEATRO.

(Yes, i know about Imperial Room. They do bring good trance names regularly, but everything else about that club is shit, which is why I don’t really include it in the Montreal Trance Evolution. Again, it’s just my opinion – take it or leave it, I have no intend of offending anyone.)

Back to Malek.

– He recently played at Bal en Blanc 17, and you can download his set on soundcloud.
– He will also be playing alongside Armin van Buuren at Pointe-Calumet’s Beach Club on May 22nd.
– Finally, here is his first collaboration with Jeremy Sky, called White Dream. I love it. It’s to be released on Ora Recordings in the upcoming weeks !

If you ask me, that’s a lot of ups for him lately. And not just for him, but for the whole Montreal Trance Scene.
