Review: Resolution + The Martinez Brothers

Hey there boys and girls !

First I’d like to apologize for the lack of posts in the past few days. New Year’s is always a rough time, we all need to catch up on all the partying we did not do in the past year. And set the tone for the next !

Part of my new years was Resolution, Jan 1st:

Resolution was a last minute thing, got a cheap ticket. It was mostly for Paul van Dyk, and although I was not blown away, it was a great night. He dropped some crazy wicked hard tribal kinda trance and that huge ass screen behind him just made it so much better.

Very few nights are perfect though. PvD was amazing for the first 2:45:00, until he played some mainstream black eyed peas remix which literally killed my vibe. The sound was not bad, but far from good, and way too loud for the sound quality provided. And don’t even get me started on the crowd.

Above and Beyond played their regular chill trance, which I’m not big fan of.

Overall: 8/10 – could’ve easily been a flop if it wasn’t for the first 2:45:00 of PvD !

Not being a great Above & Beyond fan, I headed to Stereo around 6 in the morning to see the Martinez Brothers !

Note: I was the one taking the pic, therefore I’m not in it, the brothers are in the center.

The Martinez Brothers (Chris and Steve) and without doubt the next ‘big thing’ in house music. 17 and 20 years old, these guys could be my baby brothers. Having already spinned in the biggest clubs around the world, it was expected to be a good night. And it was a great night ! I’ve missed the first 1:30:00 of their set, but no worries, since they played an extended set from 4am to 10:30am, these kids don’t know how and when to stop. The sound at Stereo was amazing as usual, and the crowd friendly as usual.

Overall: 9/10 – Would’ve probably been a 10 if I loved house as much as I love trance !

Finally, WePlayTechno would like to wish you all Happy Holidays once again !
